Why do I need to follow public health orders and restrictions if I've been vaccinated?
Transcript of Why do I need to follow public health orders and restrictions if I've been vaccinated?
Well, we're really fortunate that the COVID-19 vaccines that we're using in our program are incredibly effective, over 92 per cent effective against hospitalisation or severe disease. But unfortunately, the vaccines are not 100 per cent effective against transmission.
And what that means is that even though we're vaccinated, we can still get coronavirus and transmit it to others.
So it's really important that we still continue to follow the current public health advice regarding hygiene practices, washing our hands, wearing masks, getting tested if we have symptoms because we want to do everything in our power to make sure that we continue to protect ourselves from getting sick, but also that we stop ourselves transmitting the virus to others.
