How long after the vaccine does protection take effect?
Transcript of How long after the vaccine does protection take effect?
This is a really common question and actually a good one to talk about because people think after they have the COVID-19 vaccine that they're going to be protected immediately. But it actually takes at least 10 to 14 days for our body to develop a good immune response, and for us to have antibodies circulating ready to fight the infection.
So people will be maximally protected at least two weeks after the second dose.
So it's important to remember to get vaccinated as soon as you can.
