Transcript of What type of vaccine is the Moderna vaccine?

Well, the Moderna vaccine is the same as the Pfizer vaccine. They're both mRNA vaccines, and these vaccines have been shown to be really effective and safe, and they work by having a small little piece of genetic code encased in a little fat bubble or a lipid nanoparticle, which actually moves into the cell. The bubble dissolves and the cell is able to read the piece of mRNA to make the spike protein.

And then we make an immune response to the spike protein, and it's those antibodies that circulate in our bloodstream and give us that first line of defence should we meet the COVID disease.

So the vaccines work incredibly well, and Moderna is the same as the Pfizer vaccine.
