Transcript of Are the different vaccines interchangeable?

So, no, the different vaccines are not interchangeable.

Although the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are both mRNA vaccines and the AstraZeneca vaccine is actually called an adenovirus vector vaccine.

They are all tested in clinical trials to see how well they work and how safe they are. So each vaccine actually has a recommendation around how many doses, the space between the doses, and it's important that we follow those recommendations as they are made and given to us by the TGA and by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.
